There are many millionaires and billionaires in Kenya. Some of the wealthy Kenyans have made their money through politics, business and others inherited from their families.
Ranking of the wealthy Kenyans has been tricky for some time because most of them do not declare their wealth to the public.
The list is, however, subjective.
The Moi family has an estimated net worth of more than $ 3 billion. The family has invested in different sectors including real estate, manufacturing and agricultural sector. Through his sons Philip and Gideon, Moi has remained powerful even after leaving power.
Chandaria is one of the most influential businessmen in Kenya. His net worth is estimated at $2.5 billion. Besides business, he is involved in charity activities.
The list will not be complete if we do not include the wife of the founding father of the nation Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and mother of the current President Uhuru Kenyatta.
She owns a number of properties across the nation. Her net worth is more than $1 billion. She has invested in agriculture, transport and real estate.
Uhuru is a wealthy man. His family net worth is estimated at Sh 500 billion. Although he is not the richest man in Kenya, he is affluent. He has invested in different sectors including real estate, agriculture, energy, banking, and telecommunication just to mention a few of them.
Merali is valued at Sh. Sh431.7million. He has invested in different sectors including East Africa Batteries, Sasini Tea and Coffee, and Yana Towers. He is also involved in philanthropic activities across the nation.
Though highly controversial in nature which earned him a nick name (Agwambo) meaning the "Mysterious One". He had so many political posts to his name which was no surprise because his family origin -Luo tribe in Kenya- is indeed a key to political activities in Kenya.
Raila Odinga is popularly known in Kenya as the father of Modern Democracy in his country. His net worth is (US$250 million)
