Preamble
Kenya medical training college is committed to providing highly qualified and competent health care professionals. To actualize this K.M.T.C – Kapenguria Campus in collaboration with the county Government of West Pokot has pursued a range of initiatives to build capacity for efficient and effective service delivery in the health sector.
About the campus
KMTC Kapenguria Campus is situated in west Pokot County adjacent to Kapenguria county referral hospital. The campus is built on a 12 acre piece of land donated by the County Hospital through the county government. County government of west Pokot undertook to build and equipped a new and modern facility for Classes, Administrative offices, Skill slab and Library. Some of the pre-existing hospital buildings were also converted for use by the college.
The campus admitted the first enrolled community health nursing students in September 2014. KMTC Kapenguria was officially opened by His Excellency the President Hon. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta on 16th April 2015.
Kapenguria County Referral Hospital was established in 1934 as a dispensary, elevated in 1936 to a health center and become a District hospital in 1950. It has a bed capacity of 160, attends 250 to 300 outpatient cases per day and an average of 300 deliveries per month which makes it an ideal clinical experience site for students.
