Do you know what the legal tyre tread limit is?
The law requires a minimum of 1.6mm tread depth.
Look for the tread wear indicator bar on your tyre. The bar is moulded across the tread at regular spacings. The bar is there to help you gauge the minimum safety limit for your tyre. When the tread block is at the same level as the wear bar, the tyre is at its minimum legal limit and must be replaced.
Having tyres with an excellent grip can significantly lower your stopping distance. Safety experts recommend having at least 3mm of tread on your tyres to ensure your stopping distance is as low as possible.
